Glyndebourne Academy is an operatic development project that aims to support gifted and talented young singers. The Academy will be led by Mary assisted by a small team of opera professionals.
The Academy is open to outstanding young singers who aren’t currently able to consider a standard path towards music college or a career as a professional singer. This could be for reasons including personal circumstances, lack of career guidance, lack of skills development, financial barriers or other factors. Singers will normally be aged between 16 and 26, although in some exceptional cases older singers will be considered.
The Academy will focus on a small number of singers who show exceptional potential. Participants will be offered intensive training, mentorship, advice and guidance on future development and career pathways.
Up to eight students will be selected to take part in the full programme, working intensively with leading opera professionals, with an opportunity to perform at Glyndebourne in front of an invited audience in an informal concert at the end of the programme.
Please note that applications are now closed for the 2017 Academy.
